a quick listen to the radio suggests that disco is back, not that it ever went away here at retrospective and over the past few months we have been proud to work with some of the biggest names on the scene including heion, hardway bros and ajello. still there is certainly something in the air and so what better time to welcome back to the labels spanish king of the re-edits, rayko, with a stunning new 4 track ep.

old future music is an exciting new independent record label based in naples. the label prides itself on understanding and delivering quality deep house & funky music. its founding members are all specialize in various different areas of the business, from promotions to web design, from investments to industry contacts. every possible part of business/industry relation has been covered, enabling this young company to meet the same level of professionalism found in many of the already larger, long established record labels.
but of course, old future music was not set up just with business in mind - far from it - the founding reason for this label is simple ... for the love of house music because the future is in the past! our influences are: all the things makes with heart and love for music.

the flames still burn white hot on friedas musics first record. this seems to be no reason not to throw more explosives on top. with the elephant carousel ep the second label maker don ramon inspires a dance carousel that makes even the most peaceful pachyderms on friedas soil rotate. all four tracks are infectious to body and soul. each for itself an original. all four tracks extensively tested on the party crowd by aunt friedas nephew. rather in a club night or at a funny after hour- hands were in the air and the corner of the mouths were rising high. a very special delight for the friends of the upper class reduction surely is the argenis britos remix of the track wild goats. all in all definitely an ep that streches the trunk in the sky!

lil jabba isnt like the rest of them. while they are busy joining the dots between house and techno or whatever is safe right now, he is throwing paint all over the page. he is not american, but he is affiliated with chicagos teklife crew (dj spinn, dj rashad, etc.) and divides his time between baltimore and brooklyn, exhibiting his visual art, riding around with his bike gang and making some of the most hypnotic juke and footwork you will ever hear. local action have been figuring out a release with him for over a year - eventually an ep wasnt enough, and they persuaded him to make it a full-length album, scales. some of scales has already seen the light of day through youtube or limited cassette releases, some of it is unheard. some tracks sound cleaner than others, that is because they are newer. that is how these things work. what is consistent throughout scales is the quality: across 12 tracks, jabba flips, twists and inverts the footwork template with endless layers of samples, gurgled vocal tags, jazz licks and whatever else he feels like. these arent trax, they are tapestries.

pow! belgian duo goldffinch are back on saigon recordings, bringing things back to where they should be: the dancefloor. the duo of yoann and gilles, from brussells, belgium, launched themselves swiftly to the forefront of their chosen electronic music style with a series of unmissable dancefloor weapons on labels like jackmasters numbers, claude von strokes dirty bird, saigon, airflex labs and audio culture. four new tracks on an ep entitled the volume, guess what the first track is called ... (yes, we dont do cleverly named eps). the lead track is smashing up airwaves/dancefloors around the world to the extent that we do sincerely hope that no injuries may have occurred due to any aggro-dance moves (we are not liable). support thus far has come from the likes of paleman, loefah, mary anne hobbs, and benji b, amongst others. goldffinch/saigon fully endorse the use of peacock related imagery.

berlin/zurich based label tardis is back, enthusiastically dancing out of the studio into the dawn of a much wished-for summer. for their second release, tardis has enlisted paul mac aka jorge zamacona who hoists in not one but three rough killers.

cavaan is the alter ego of a rather well known berlin producer and his fellow from milan. the duo debuts with their very much loved project. they feature a studio-recorded wonderful vocal on this hypnotically modern percussive house affair titled black snow. the original track grooves on some free swinging retro percussions and beats from the 80s machinery and a softly moving house-beat making this a very subtle killer for any dancefloor. while the vocals carry the track as light as a feather it is after the breakdown that things get really musical - you will hear yourself while listening the melodies and sequences. for the remixes turdjr has aligned a high-quality and diverse array of a current top producer. one of heidelbergs coolest kids on the block, lopazz knows that every track gets better with a lot of handmade music-and he sure is right in his interpretation of black snow. last not least i is under on the flip which is one of these tracks that sucks the listener in so deep that there is simply no escape: repetitive yet constantly changing and constantly grooving while remaining very pure! this release is filled with tracks that will long echo on the dancefloor!

schallbox014 is a deep and ever grooving track made by berlins michael nielebock and leevey that will definitely see the openair season prolonged until the end of the year. additionally, larsson delivers a dubby remix featuring an electrifying beat and broad synth sounds. schallbox even resurrects some golden memories of legendary bar25 - courtesy of sasch cawa and dirty doerings remix which is furthermore gratifying the vinyl package. last but not least the release is completed by the contribution of newcomer benotmane from basel, who converts the original into a dreamy sunrise tune.

kenneth anger may not necessarily be the name that will come to mind when listening for the first time - distracted, confused, disoriented - to puce moments debut album. yet it is the only one that will seem relevant upon second listen -narcotic, infernal, fascinating. puce moment does not only borrow a title (of his eighth short film, made in 1949) from the baron noir of experi?mental cinema . ghostly wanderings, satanic masses, mystical romances, mechanical hell: eve?rything in the duo from lille (france) and their album in form of an invocation to ancient sybarites authorities refers to the californian filmmakers obsessions.

revivra is back on gamm with two seriously well produced re-edits (or remixes?) on the soulful boogie tip. just like last time this is just not some quick 5 min fixes but hand crafted reworks that takes the original tracks to the next level with loads of added live elements. the a-sides take on midways set it out is so good it almost makes the original sounds like the remix. with a beautiful live string intro it explodes into a proper boogie winner that easily could have been produced by any of the big producers from late 70s. on the flip revivra goes back to his deep love for marvin with +11 min excursion of mercy mercy me. epic is an understatement!

roundtree could be the alias of a very well known (perhaps legendary) producer who might want to remain anonymous. we are not saying, or perhaps we just did, im not sure. anyhow, two rather crisp housers on offer here, *g-string diva* with its sharp as nails percussion and female spoken vocal which lends the track a nicely sleazy edge and *no need for the v* with its prominent baseline driven grove. enjoy!

every now and then, a record comes along…this is one of those occasions. but...it is not any old record, it is a new one. specifically, the new 12inch single from sundown drive, brought to you by mind fair and rogue cat sounds. moving on from the body and soul that embodied their first trip, sd transcend you to the annals of deep clubland and melodically twist your heart strings with an early morning flutter and a tantric tension. the meandering-yet-purposeful piano finding its feet later in the proceedings this time, but rising to full effect, leaving only the dub to knock us sideways into a beautifully-simplistic dark alley of spring reverbs, synthesized prophecy and the voices in ya head telling you to give it up.

rafaël murillo is already there, armed with a bomb. despite everything, laredo is a believer, he knows all the good and the bad theories. he insists on involving us, from the top, on the traces of the plot -crop circles- supported by the strong foundations of his brother, gaffy. the tech house spirit of laredo glides between paris and barcelona. eloïse oddos totally seized it when she designed the amazing record sleeve of crop circles for seconde.

andres zaccos very own greener imprint is back with a brand new 12 inch release. as you can already tell from the labels frequency in output (the last 12 inch, andres zacco & franco cinellis the secret mission ep came out in may 2011), greener places its primary focus on quality, not quantity. for this fourth outing, greener is glad to welcome j.c. – a young, up-andcoming producer from madrid, who presents here his personal take on techno. both titles on the m-theory ep put forward a fine mixture of unyielding, grounding rhythmic structures and mesmerizing synths, building into grand momentums.

upcoming release from todd osborn on jared wilsons 7777 label. the a-side track 303 explores some dark acid territory, while the b-side 909 is a melodic house track in osborns signature style. like previous 7777 releases, we do not expect these to last long.
